Elsie A. (Luoma) Osborne of Casper


Elsie A. (Luoma) Osborne died at the Shepherd of the Valley Care Center on July 31, 2010 at the age of 91. She lived in Casper, WY for 58 years. She died peacefully with her two sons John W. Osborne and Larry R. Osborne at her side. She was born in Leo, WY on September 26, 1918 the daughter of Christon Hikon (John) Luoma and Emma Mary (Sakrison) Luoma. Her parents homesteaded near Leo, WY and she was the daughter of Wyoming pioneers.

Elsie graduated from Rawlins High School and later worked at various motels/hotels in Cheyenne and Casper, WY. She met her husband Richard V. Osborne in Cheyenne, and they were married in Kimball, NE on September 23, 1941. They moved to Casper in 1942 where they raised their three children, Larry R. Osborne of Douglas, WY, John W. Osborne of Johnstown, CO and Lois J. (Osborne) Branscom of Casper, WY.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Richard V. Osborne, daughter Lois J. (Osborne) Branscom, grandson Steven Branscom, several nieces, nephews, five brothers and six sisters. At the time of her death, she was the sole surviving member of her family. She is survived by her sons John W. Osborne, Larry R. Osborne, four grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.

She and her husband loved to fish and dance and were both members of the Moose Lodge, holding several officer positions. They were members of the Winter Memorial Presbyterian Church in Casper, WY. Elsie enjoyed bowling, bingo and followed professional baseball and golf.

Visitation will be on August 5, 2010 from 6 to 7 PM at Newcomer Funeral Home. Services will be held August 6, 2010 at 10 AM at Newcomer Funeral Home in Casper, WY. Officiating will be Chaplin Marvin Skogen of the Shepherd of the Valley Care Center. Internment will be at the Memorial Gardens Cemetery.

Memorials may be sent to the American Cancer Society.
